This Memorial Day weekend has been a crazy one! Ben and I drove to New York, attended a beautiful outdoor wedding, and drove all the way home in two days. The time together was incredible but the heat was definitely not. However, a blistering hot outdoor summer wedding was the perfect excuse to finally break out that Semi-Annual sale Lilly dress that has been patiently hanging in my closet for the better part of a year waiting to be worn. Anyone can tell you that I LOVE a Lilly shift dress and I love scoring one for under $50 even more. The last Semi-Annual was in January so the rumor is that we can be expecting another one very soon. Yesterday was our Anderson Memorial Day celebration and it was all about the long hikes, longer swims, hours of board games, and loads of apple pie. I FINALLY figured out how to create that beautiful lattice work (with the help of at least three Youtube tutorials). If you're in the market for a new apple pie recipe, my family and I can definitely recommend this one: http://www.thegraciouswife.com/apple-pie/ Finally we are finishing out the weekend with grad parties and the Karst family cookout. I have been on the hunt for at least three years for that go-to summer sandal that I can pair with my nicer outfits, and obviously I've been obsessed with Jack Rodgers forever, but I could never quite justify that price tag. This year I was given my first pair as a graduation present, and I swear that (other than my Birks) they are the only shoe I wear. They will definitely be making an appearance at my outdoor wedding reception this July. At my Bachelorette party last weekend, I super splurged on my first pair of Lilly Pulitzer shorts and found that Lilly and Jack are a match made in heaven. Nordstom puts Jacks on sale alllll the time, so I check more regularly than I probably should :)
What did you do this Memorial Day? Do you have any family traditions you look forward to? Comment and tell me all about it!
